TERRAZZO TILES - TECHNICAL INFORMATION
Technical Information about Our Terrazzo Tiles
Our terrazzo tiles are manufactured by Grandinetti S.r.l. in Italy – a family-run company with over 100 years of experience in terrazzo production. The tiles are made from marble granules, cement, water and natural pigments – a modern interpretation of traditional Italian craftsmanship.
Finishes & Areas of Application
We offer different surface finishes:
- Polished: High gloss, USRV 13 (< R9), not slip-resistant
- Matt honed: USRV 47 (≈ R10), suitable for living areas and bathrooms
- Antique brushed: USRV 31 (≈ R9), with a slightly textured feel
The tiles are suitable for interior use. We do not recommend installing them inside the shower area, as water, soap and shampoo can lead to surface stains over time.
Sizes & Weight
Size | Thickness | Weight/m² |
---|---|---|
20 × 20 cm | 1.2 cm | approx. 30 kg |
40 × 40 cm | 2 cm | approx. 50 kg |
60 × 60 cm | 2 cm | approx. 50 kg |
Additional formats (e.g. hexagon) are available upon request.
Installation & Substrate
A sound, clean screed is essential for proper installation. Please note the following:
- Use a high-performance adhesive (e.g. Mapei Keraflex Maxi S1 or Kerakoll H40 Flex)
- Recommended joint spacing: 2 mm
- Matching grout: optionally available in colors that correspond to your terrazzo mix
- Movement and edge joints should be planned in – especially with underfloor heating
Care & Cleaning
For long-lasting results, we recommend the following:
- Neutral cleaner: Fila Cleaner mixed with warm water (1:30)
- Stain protection: Fila MP90 or Fila FOB
- Optional wax treatment: Fila Classic for a subtle glossy “wet effect”
Please avoid acidic or aggressive cleaning agents.
Storage
If the tiles are not laid immediately after delivery, store them in a dry, covered space. Moisture may damage untreated surfaces or cause discoloration.
